Organic Ant Killer Recipe

This method of ant control creates a mixture of a few ingredients which are combined to form a liquid ant killer bait, with the primary ingredient used to kill the ants being Borax.

In practice, the ants are drawn to eat the baited sugary syrup, and once ingested – the Borax acts to kill the ants immediately.

Organic Ant Killer Recipe

Mix the following ingredients together to make this organic ant killer recipe:

• 1 cup of warm water
• 3/4 cup of sugar
• 1 tablespoon of Borax

It is best to mix the water and sugar together first to ensure the sugar fully dissolves. If the water needs further heating-up, then this can be done on the stove or in the microwave.

Once the syrup is made and the mixture is cooled, the borax can then be added and stirred in.

The borax ant mixture can then be placed into very small containers, such as bottle caps, milk bottle caps etc, which are then placed next to each ant nest. It is best to bury the cap into the surrounding soil a little so the liquid is almost at ground level. This will allow the ants to access the syrup with the greatest ease.

The mix can either be left out for a few hours in the morning or afternoon, and then picked up and removed after this short time period.

Putting some type of barrier around and above the borax mix is a good idea to protect pets and wildlife from accessing the mixture.

Keep repeating the process until each ant colony is eliminated.

Important Borax Precautions

Always pick up any of the remaining Borax mix after a few hours have elapsed, and properly dispose of the mixture, or put the little containers safely aside to be used on other ant nests, or for repeat treatments the next day.

Borax can be on the toxic side for both people and pets, so it’s always highly recommended to keep the mixture outside – near the ant nests for only short periods of time, and to always store safely out of reach of all people and pets at all times.

Never let children or pets into the yard when these ant killer baits are present.
